You don’t have to be in crisis or have a mental health issue to benefit from psychological therapy. Psychological therapy offers opportunities to explore all aspects of life experience, from personal development to difficult conditions like anxiety and depression, trauma, bereavement, illness and relationship issues.
Psychology and Counselling therapy can help you:
People can sometimes feel anxious at the first appointment but often find they are relaxed by the end.
The first appointment is longer then our standard 50 min session at 75 mins and is about getting to know you and your concerns, gathering some background information, and understanding the reasons you’ve come to therapy and your goals. This first appointment will also give you the opportunity to decide whether psychotherapy is right for you and for us to decide whether we can work together.
Therapy generally has a beginning, a middle and an end. In general, therapy lasts for between 4 to 20 sessions, scheduled weekly, fortnightly or monthly, however each person’s needs are different. You might decide that shorter or longer treatment is appropriate for you and we discuss this during our sessions.
After the initial meeting we’ll go over your goals and regularly check in to see how we’re doing in meeting those goals, if they need to be adjusted, and if we are in fact nearing the end of your therapy.
You don’t have to be concerned about therapy being an open ended and never ending process. Even during longer term treatment there is a focus and goals are worked towards with your preferences in mind.
